Article From The Oregonian

It was a photocopy of a story in the Oklahoma City newspaper, which trumpeted how a writer for a national publication was preparing to publish a story saying the Thunder had a brighter future than the Blazers.
Two paragraphs were underlined in red ink: One said the Blazers didn't have a superstar; the other said the Blazers didn't have a point guard.
On Friday, they had both.
The superstar role was filled by Aldridge, who had 35 points and 18 rebounds, while Steve Blake once again provided a night of steady and stellar steering, finishing with 14 points and 10 assists.
It was the type of slights Aldridge and Blake have used to motivate them throughout their careers, so Friday, neither admitted to the article giving them extra incentive.
"I don't play for what they write about me," Blake said. "I play for my teammates, my coaches, the city of Portland."
But you have heard that before?
"About me not being the answer?" Blake said. "It's the story of my life. Not going to be a good college player. Not going to start in college. Can't win a championship. Can't play in the NBA. Can't start in the NBA. So, what's new?" |
